That book was extreme...I am so glad you enjoyed it! That book was extremely eye-opening for me. I just let my 6th grade group write Minecraft stories and 100% engagement. Even my reluctant writers asked to take it home. They submitted to author and they are posted on website. SO exciting for them. We HAVE to tap into their worlds and interests. It just is not optional. We have to find a way to make it work. I also loved Masterminds and Wingmen. I really must get my hands on a...Great list Teresa. I really must get my hands on a copy of "Boy Writers". I certainly didn't feel my interests were fully encouraged at school. Loved anything dinosaurs when younger then WWII, Isaac Asimov's book of Facts, loved Grimm fairytales. Would have been easy enough to cater to me really but choice was missing. At second level we were prescribed reading only, usually with an exam in mind. Killed any joy of reading really. It was only after university that I discovered reading for pleasure.
